CHAPTER 23

Shaun

“What the hell does he want to talk to us about?” Simon scowled.

“I don’t know. I guess we’ll find out later,” I said. “And why my house?”

“Who the hell knows,” Sam said.

Stefan proceeded to tell us about Mark and Leon’s houses for sale.

“They’d be great houses for the cousins,” Stefan said.

“There’s only two for sale. They need three,” Sam spoke.

“Two of them can live together until another one become available. They can make someone move out like Shaun did.” Stefan grinned.

“The houses around here go fast. Did you call them?” I asked.

“No. I haven’t had a chance. Mark was cleaning up the front for the open house tomorrow.”

“Hmm.” I pulled out my phone and dialed Bella.”

“Hey, Shaun. Grant and I were just talking about you.”

“Hi, Bella. There are two houses I want to purchase: cash offers and a ten-day close. Occupants can stay rent-free for sixty days if need be.”

“What are the addresses?”

After Stefan rattled them off to me, I repeated them to Bella.”

“Excellent. I’ll get on that right now. Grant and I are on a plane to L.A. as we speak. I was going to call you and see if you wanted to meet up for drinks tomorrow night.”

“I’d love to.”

“Great. I’ll text you tomorrow. Make sure to bring your girlfriend. We’re excited to meet her.”

“Thanks, Bella. I will. Tell Grant I said hi.”

“Will do. See you tomorrow, Shaun.”

“You’re seriously buying the houses?” Simon’s brow arched.

“Yeah. If our cousins are interested, they can buy it from me for what I paid.”

“And if they’re not?” Sam asked.

“I’ll sell them. No big deal.” I smiled.

“Boys, Curtis and I are leaving now.” Barb walked over. “Stefan, I’m so happy to have another granddaughter. Congratulations, sweetheart.” She hugged him.

“Thanks, Mom.”

She hugged Simon, Sam, and Sebastian goodbye. She shocked us all when she hugged me as well.

“Goodnight, Shaun.”

“Goodnight, Barb.”

“Whoa. What the hell was that?” Simon laughed.

“What did you do?” Sebastian asked.

“I let her get the cake for your birthday party.”

“Damn. A simple cake was all it took to get on her good side?” Stefan chuckled.

After everyone had left, we walked to my house so our father could tell us whatever it was he had to.

“Okay. We’re all here. What did you want to talk about?” I asked.

“You all know, don’t you?”

“Know what?” Sebastian asked.

“If you’re referring to that Sonya woman, you’ve been fucking. Yeah, we know all about it,” Simon spoke sternly.

“I knew it. The way the five of you have been acting over the past few weeks led me to believe you knew something. Which one of you found out first?”

“Does it matter?” Simon shouted.

“I did,” I spoke up. “I was at the Four Seasons having a business lunch, and when I was walking to the restaurant, I saw the two of you.”

“How did you know her name?”

“Have you forgotten that Grace and I are detectives? We can find out anything.”

“And yet you never confronted me?”

“Because we don’t give a shit, Dad!” Simon yelled. “We could care less if you want to fuck up your life.
